For years, the idea of designing my own diamond cut lived in my mind as a quiet, buried dream. It wasn’t until I began working with Mr. Henry Ho on publishing my book "All About Diamonds" that this dream was finally brought to the surface. After understanding my capabilities, he said: ‘Why not create your own? The LANA cut.’ And that's how the name was born. Another important motivating factor was the timing of the development of this LANA Cut design, during the celebration of the 250th Anniversary of America on July 4, 2026! Why not dedicate the LANA Cut Diamond to promote American innovation and celebrate Independence of the United States, the Land of Free and Home of Brave! As far as I know, the Indpendence LANA Cut is the first and only bespoke diamond cut to iconically represent, honor, and cherish the birth of a leading superpower and beacon of innovation!

That single suggestion was the spark I needed. I began working immediately. To my surprise, the design flowed naturally, I have always been a visual thinker, and once my interest is ignited, I don’t stop until the vision in my mind is realized in stone.

My inspiration was rooted in my love for the fine arts. I have always admired work where you can ‘feel’ the movement of the artist, the deliberate, textured brushstrokes of Monet or Renoir that invite you to look closer, rather than the cold perfection of a photographic painting. I wanted the LANA cut to reflect that same philosophy. I deliberately moved away from the industry’s obsession with ‘maximum flash’, which often results in a chaotic, singular glow, and instead focused on individual facets that catch and hold the light, like strokes of paint on a canvas. The outline of this unique shape was deeply influenced by my daughter, whose natural creativity and sharp eye for diamond aesthetics pushed me to rethink traditional geometry.
